India's population will be 1.4286 billion by the end of June, will overtake China by 2100

India is expected to overtake  China  as the world’s most populous country with almost 3 million more people by the middle of this year, according to UN figures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's new parliament building on Sunday, a modern complex that is part of his Hindu nationalist government's grand plan to give a makeover to the British colonial-era architecture in New Delhi. Finland tops UN SDSN's World Happiness Index list for fifth consecutive year

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network's World Happiness Report 2023 released on Monday shows that Finland remains the happiest country in the world for the sixth year in a row. Denmark, Iceland, Israel, and the Netherlands are the next happiest countries on the list. Other European countries such as Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and Luxembourg also made the top 10. The rankings are based on data from the main life evaluation question in the Gallup World Poll, which measures how happy citizens perceive themselves to be. Pakistan is ranked 103 while Afghanistan is ranked at the last rung, 146, in the World Happiness Index Rank List 2023. However, Bangladesh is ranked 99 on the list. India’s position in the World Happiness Report is 136, well behind its neighboring Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and China. China to boycott G20 meeting in Indian-occupied Kashmir

China said on Friday that it is opposed to a G20 tourism meeting next week in the disputed Himalayan territory of Kashmir in India and will not attend. India, which holds the chair of G20 this year, has organized a series of meetings across the country in the run-up to the summit in New Delhi in September. Indian shares decline on profit booking amid earnings rush

BENGALURU: Indian shares fell on Wednesday, dragged by broad slide across sectors, as investors booked profits on a nearly 5% rise in the benchmark Nifty 50 in fiscal 2024 so far, while weak global cues amid debt ceiling negotiations in the U.S. weighed. The Nifty 50 was closed 0.57% down at 18,181.75, while the S&P BSE Sensex fell 0.60% to 61,560.64. Both indexes extended losses to a second consecutive session. High-weightage financials and information technology (IT) led losses in the Nifty, falling 0.71% and 0.97% respectively. UAE-India flights: Residents hail new direct route from Dubai to Bhubaneswar

Non-resident Odias living in the UAE flew in specially on the inaugural Dubai-Bhubaneswar direct flight on Tuesday, May 15, 2023, and met Odisha's Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. India: No-frills air carrier Go First cancels flights, files for bankruptcy

Go First, the ultra-low-cost airline in India has cancelled all of its flights for the next three days due to the grounding of approximately half of its fleet, and filing for bankruptcy protection. Go First, owned by the Wadia Group and formerly known as GoAir, said on its website that it had cancelled flights scheduled for May 3 to May 5 due to "operational reasons". This marks the first major airline Go First in the country to file for bankruptcy since Jet Airways went bankrupt in 2019.
