UAE: GCC countries likely to offer unified 'Schengen-style' visa

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are exploring the option to launch a ‘Schengen-style” visa for tourists. It will make easy for visitors to enter the Gulf countries and spend vacations there. The development was confirmed by Fatima Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism in Bahrain. He said discussions have been taking place at the ministerial level among GCC nations on how to achieve a unified single visa. Speaking during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2023) in Dubai, she said that the unified visa system could be happening very soon. Citing the example of Europe, the minister said the benefits of such a visa regime are available to all of the countries. UAE: GNTB to focus climate change, sustainable tourism at ATM 2023

German National Tourist Board (GNTB) presented a campaign update and their vision of ‘Making Tourism More Sustainable’ on the opening day of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2023). GNTB is focusing on sustainable-related aspects across a number of tourism segments under the slogan ‘Germany, simply inspiring’. Those include Embrace German Nature - highlighting natural landscapes and activity holidays; Historic Modern Germany - promoting cultural heritage, and 51 UNESCO World Heritage sites with a spotlight on traditions and customs of rural regions. And thirdly, their Feel Good - Sustainable Travel in Germany campaign, emphasizes how to enjoy an environment-friendly holiday in Germany. “We aim to make a meaningful contribution towards climate change mitigation. UAE: Carter & White raises Dirham 40 million Series A funding

Emirati brand Carter & White, specialists in luxury clothing and accessories, has successfully raised Dirham 40 million in their first round of Series A funding. The sustainable luxury and contemporary fashion’s goal is to be listed in global financial markets by 2027. Carter & White aims to invest these funds to attract a new segment in regional retail markets of UAE, Saudi Arabia, GCC, and then Europe. The popular brand will open its first store in Al Faisaliyah Centre in Riyadh later this year followed by stores in Kuwait, Doha, Jeddah and GCC countries. The Egyptian Giza premium cotton clothing brand will also open its first internationally based pop-up in Porto Cervo this September. Dubai all set to host ATM 2023 exhibition next week

The 30th edition of the Arabian Travel Market 2023 will be held from May 1-4 at Dubai’s World Trade Centre where 2,000 exhibitors and 34,000 attendees from 150 countries are expected to gracing the occasion. This year's conference, in collaboration with the Emirate's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), will focus on the theme "Working Towards Net Zero". It will provide a platform for industry professionals to network, collaborate, and showcase innovations towards decarbonization. The conference will form a central component of the UAE’s Annual Arabian Travel Week. Besides sessions focused on the key markets of India, China and the GCC, this year’s show will feature the inaugural ATM Sustainable Stand Award, ATM Travel Tech Stage, and Sustainability Hub. Eid Al Fitr 2023 announced: Shawwal crescent moon spotted in Saudi Arabia

The crescent Moon that signals the end of the holy month of Ramadan was spotted in Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening, according to SPA .  According to the Saudi Supreme Court, tomorrow, Friday (April 21), is the first day of Eid Al Fitr for this year 1444 AH. This date also marks the first day of Islamic calendar month Shawwal. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has said that Eid Al Fitr holiday will begin from Friday, April 21. The holidays will be for a period of four days and regular working hours will commence from Tuesday, April 25. This applies to private and non-profit sectors in the Kingdom. The Saudi moon-sighting committee had invited all Muslims to try and sight the moon on the evening of Ramadan 29 (Thursday). Islamic months last for 29 or 30 days, depending on when the Moon is sighted.
