UAE: Tourism Malaysia targets tourists from Middle East at ATM 2023

In line with Visit Malaysia in 2025, Tourism Malaysia will strive to attract more tourists from the Middle East to portray Malaysia as the top destination for Muslim travelers. This is what Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Malaysia, has wowed during participation in the Arabian Travel Market 2023.

Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan is leading a 76-member strong delegation from Malaysia to participate in ATM 2023 at Dubai World Trade Cenre. Led by Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, the Malaysian delegation is scheduled to meet up with top management of Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Saudia Airlines, Air Arabia, Oman Air, and Salam Air to discuss future collaborations.   29th anniversary of Malaysia’s participation Arabian Travel Market 2023 marks the 29th anniversary of Malaysia’s participation in this prestigious event. It is a testimony to the country’s support of the event and its commitment to attracting more Middle Eastern tourists to Malaysia. As in previous years, this prestigious annual event sees the participation of a strong Malaysian delegation from 76 organizations. They include hotels, resorts, travel agents, tourism product owners, Langkawi Development Authority, Penang Global Tourism, Sabah Tourism Board, Sarawak Tourism Board, Tourism Melaka, Tourism Pahang, and Tourism Johor. Memorandum of Collaborations The honourable minister will also witness the signing of two Memorandum of Collaboration between Tourism Malaysia, Saudia Airlines, and Air Arabia. These collaborations will benefit the Malaysian economy and strengthen ties between Malaysia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. He will also be hosting a ‘Malaysia Nite Gala Dinner’ for the tourism fraternity and local media. Record tourists receipts Since the end of COVID restrictions, Malaysia has recorded 10.07 million tourist arrivals and Dh 23.5 billion in tourist receipts in 2022. It surpassed its initial target of 9.2 million international tourist arrivals. Malaysia also recorded 88,534 tourist arrivals from the Middle East the same year. Malaysia is targeting to welcome 16.1 million international tourist arrivals, 300,000 tourists from West Asia. It aims to generate Dh 41.1 billion in tourist receipts in 2023.
