No UAE visa restrictions on Pakistani citizens: Ambassador

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has not imposed a ban on visa for Pakistani citizens hailing from any city as it accords high values to its relations with Islamabad, a top diplomat says.

Consul General of the UAE Ateeq Al Remeithi at a ceremony cleared the air that the Emirates has not placed any sort of restrictions on UAE visa for Pakistan citizens.

While inaugurating the Emirate's biggest visa centre in Asia in Karachi last week, he said the Emirates was granting UAE visa to the residents of Pakistani cities without any discrimination. "The news circulating on social media platforms was fake," Al Remeithi said. He lamented that rumours were making rounds on social media every now and then, claiming a ban on some Pakistani residents. In December, Pakistan's Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch also confirmed that the UAE had not banned or blacklisted the issuance of visas to Pakistani citizens holding domiclies of specific cities.

Pakistan-UAE is one of the busiest air routes as South Asian nationals account for the second largest expatriate community in the UAE, totalling around 1.7 million. In November, the UAE government revised the naming guidelines for allowing entry into the Emirates.
